tech baseball is rocking alrite. ive been following their result for couple of weeks now and its super impressive. they finished their regular season on a 17 consecutive run, which is the longest right now in the whole country, and only on their last victory, pipped over virginia to end up on top of the ACC league to claim no. 1 pick for the post season.
they've been playing the post season since wednesday and here r the results.
1st Round (wed) - 4-3 vs Maryland (9th seed)
2nd Round (thurs) - 11-7 in 13 innings vs Clemson (4th seed)
Quarter Finals (today) - 13-4 vs Florida State (3rd seed)
so we just won the quarter finals, as funny as it may sound, georgia tech wouldnt have to play the semi finals, since they're no. 1 seed and have won all their matches so far, they get to go to the final straight away after this victory that extends our consecutive winning run to 20 matches!!!
im afraid and cautious, coz they're on a long winning streak, it could snap anytime. i just hope it wont be anytime soon. they're just one win away from capturing the ACC championship and after that, it'll be the NCAA championship. it doesnt work like the MLB where they play a series and whoever wins 3 or 5 matches first goes on to the next stage, its decided by one match, and its really unpredictable.
but i hope they do it. its on the 30th. the opponent unknown yet, clemson and north carolina have to play later on and the winner of that will play florida state for a berth in the finals.
last time tech won the ACC was in 2000. tech was in college world series last year, so i guess we can go in confidence for NCAA.
