yes.. couple of things to look forward to...

MLS (American Soccer League) kicks off today.. by right, i should b rootin for my 'local' team Chicago Fire, which plays about half an hour drive away from where i stay right now. But then all eyes r on 14 year old wonderkid Freddy Adu. He'll star playin today against guys who r twice as older, if not, much older than himself. but he's already earnin more than anyone else in the league. isnt tt amazin? so yea, i'll b seein how he develops as a player.

and baseball kicks off monday... again, i should b supportin Chicago Cubs, but I was a Red Sox guy from the start. When I go to atlanta, i better switch to Braves. they were a former Bostonian team, i found out couple of months back.

andddd.... today's the big day. Final Four. Georgia Tech playin at 5pm. im not expectin em to win. they were the surprise candidates. but then, we hav a chance, coz the 2 bigger names r facin eachother in the other match. so at least one underdog gets to go to the championship match. its either georgia tech or oklahoma state. whichever will do. but of cuz, it'll b nice if georgia tech can make it through, then they would hav bettered their best performance by one. who knows, if mirable does take place, we might even win it. we've been playin superbly without the best player on court n he returns. i wonder how Elder and Jarret will handle the situation. both of em r big scorers. wooh, cant wait!!

so basically ive settled everythin tt needs to b done for georgia tech. ive submitted the medical forms and everythin should b in order. juz tt theyve not returned my query. hmm. gotta call em on monday. or r they assessin my grades...?

been watchin dvds lately, borrowed couple of them from the Oshiro family and the library. the two better ones, A Beautiful Mind and Hulk, stars Jennifer Connelly and yea, she's damn gd.

anyway...

my topic today.. is bout american idol... i think it has reached a pt where we hav to start gettin used to competitors gettin kicked out coz they werent popular enough. i think we've probably seen the worst week ever. i tot it would b fantastic for the theme to b mo-town and invitin the funk brothers to come and perform. but i think it backfired. the background music totally overshadowed the singers' voices and tt made almost everyone, includin the gd ones look real bad. and the results show? my my. i was pretty confident tt camile and john stevens were gonna b in bottom 3. but, the talented ones all went in. i mean, latoya... if she continued performin like she did on the first 2 wks, she can easily win and no one would match her. not even fantasia. but then, we've all seen wat happened. unbelievable. amy adams, well, she's not a winner material, but u ask her to sing any celine dion song, she can do it better than anyone else. i think the prob wit idol is tt they're not lettin the singers sing in their style. they expect em to b able to sing in any genre, but who has been able to do such a thing. if they could, they wouldnt need to participate in idol. tts somethin ive never agreed on since the final show. so yea, back to my real pt. the competition from now on will b more of a popularity contest than a talent contest. u can see it v clearly. those who get more camera time, such as john peter lewis, fantasia and george huff r unlikely to b voted off, coz they r popular. as long as u hav popular votes, tt will get u to the safe base, coz the numbers r greater than actual 'u can sing well' votes. so havin tt in mind, the rest only hav the second type of votes to rely on. which is not fair, clearly, coz some might b more talented, but juz coz they r not popular enough, they might not stay in idol. tts sad. but then again, idol is all about makin the next commercial star. it was never a talent contest. so in tt sense, i can understand y there might b controversial decisions from now on. for ppl like john adams, its real hard. coz its mainly a pop contest n he's a true blue jazz guy. hell, i think he posseses the biggest talent of the 9 left. but he prob wont win, coz he's not marketable. ultimately its all bt the profits for FOX and the record company. i mean look at how clay aiken has changed. when he auditioned, he was a geeky lookin redhead. now he's stylish blondie pop star. tts wat idol makes u into. so if u dont change, and u r not pop-ish, out u go. in tt sense, john adams and camile hav no chance. even if lesser talented guys like john peter (i admit, he has appeal) might win. i dont mind fantasia. but it all of her songs in her album's gonna sound tt upbeat, im gonna hav second thoughts.

well, wat can i say. we cant do much, all the results depend on america. one person in the idol message board commented tt the results should b blamed on us (americans) cos we r a nation of idiots. how else can we explain how bush came into power? coz of idots like the many of us. n tts how idol will too end up. givin the multi million dollar contract to someone who doesnt deserve as much, but ended up wit it anyway coz the public misunderstood the importance.

well, it fits the title of the program anyway, the american 'idol' as it says, must b the most popular, i mean, he/she is supposed to b an idol to the americans anyway.
